Here are some driving tips to help you avoid accidents and have a safer trip

Do a safety check before driving. Check the headlights, blinkers and brake lights. Check for fluid leaks. Check the tires are property inflated. Also, adjust all the mirrors and seats before starting the car.

Always wear your seatbelt.
  
Keep your headlights on during the daytime. It is proven to help prevent accidents.
 
Stop completely at stop signs look left, right and straight ahead.

Notice what is happening in front as well as your sides and behind you.

Anticipate people opening their car doors and bicycles jumping in front of you. Also anticipate other peoples mistakes and bad driving.

When getting gas, check your fluid levels and check for leaks.

If your car is stalled, stay with your car and call for help.
 
Keep at least 4 seconds behind the car in front of you.
 
Don't talk on the cell phone.

Let people know when you are coming and your route, in case you veer off the road, you can be found easier.

If an emergency vehicle approaches, pull to the side and put your hazard lights on.
  
Leave early to avoid the temptation to speed.
   
"If the roads are wet, then drive like it's snowing.  If the roads have snow, then drive like they're icy.   If the roads are icy, then don't drive."
 
Driving slower decreases your braking distance.
 
Pull over and sleep if necessary and make sure you have enough fuel on long trips.
 
Pull over when  playing with the radio.
 
Let aggressive drivers pass.
     
Never drink and drive.
 
Before driving in a different country, research the laws.
